About Me

Principal Clinical Psychologist – Service Lead

I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist leading the introduction of the new psychological wellbeing practitioner service across Aneurin Bevan. As a new service, with a high level of interest due to the strategic interest of psychological services at Tier 0/1, it has been important to evaluate the impact of these practitioners as new roles within the mental health work force.

I have found that providing sound evidence of service effectiveness is surprisingly rare in mental health services in the NHS, and our systems make this work very challenging. When present, however, it powerful in not only driving improved outcomes, but also in supporting service growth. The early evaluation of this service from multiple perspectives (outcomes, patient satisfaction, GP satisfaction, and other important measures) has been both exciting and powerful in establishing whether this service adds value.
