We are pleased to announce that the latest in our growing range of data dashboards is now available. The National Hip Procedures Dashboard is the seventh to be developed and published by the Welsh Value in Health Centre in collaboration with colleagues from Digital Health and Care Wales.
This first iteration visualises and links process data collected for hip procedures across Wales. Specifically, this dashboard has access to patient activity data across Wales, Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) data gathered within the National PROMs Platform, and the Welsh Results Reporting Service data. Developed to support a data informed approach to Orthopaedics by identifying good practice and variation. It aims to inform positive improvements that increase value for patients across Wales.
On Friday 18th February, we will be hosting a stakeholder engagement session, led by Mr Phill Thomas, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon working in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and member of the Welsh Value in Health Centre team. The dashboard will be demonstrated to the audience members, they will then have the opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and discuss further enhancements that could be made.
Work is already underway on a number of enhancements to this dashboard. Due to recent developments, it is now possible for us to set about receiving data from the National Joint Registry (NJR), which will be visualised in the dashboard soon. Finally, given that the Data Standard Change Notices will soon be in place, we will be working to receive PROMs data from any platform used to collect them, by encouraging those platform suppliers to align with the PROMs Standard Operating Model (PSOM) we have created.
In time, we hope to develop this dashboard and all others to triangulate process, outcome and costing data, so that stakeholders can really take a data informed approach to service design and focus on improving outcomes for patients.
If you work within NHS Wales and would like to view the dashboard, you can access it and view our full range of dashboards here
A new release of the National Knee Arthroplasty Dashboard will soon be available. More details on that to follow shortly.
