Director, Value-Based Health and Care Academy. Professor of Enhanced Innovation, Engagement and Outcomes

After a career as a reconstructive plastic surgeon and holding many NHS leadership positions, Hamish was Executive Medical Director and Chief Information Officer of a large integrated NHS Health Board in Wales. He established a Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) programme and led for the NHS in the successful Swansea Bay City Region Deal.

Appointed to a personal chair in Swansea University in 2018, Hamish is Director of the Value-Based Health and Care Academy and researches the application of VBHC in the interface between health systems and the life science sector.  The VBHC Academy delivers masters level education programmes as well as research and consultancy. Hamish represents Wales at the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) VBHC Think-Tank and advises global pharmaceutical and medical technology companies on VBHC.
