Mr D Phill Thomas is a full-time NHS Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon working in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and PROMS lead for the Welsh Value in Health Centre. He qualified from St Thomas’s Hospital London in 1990 before returning to Wales to do his speciality training. He did a fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and started as a Consultant in 2001. His areas of expertise are paediatric trauma and paediatric/ adult hip conditions and became Clinical Director for the Trauma and Orthopaedic service for 3 years from 2013. He is also interested in sports medicine and has been a doctor with the Scarlets regional rugby team for 10 years. He also provides medical cover for the Wales National Rugby team and Cardiff City Football club. He is married with 3 children aged 23, 21 and 19. Most of his spare time is spent standing on touchlines with his medical bag!
